An Indian-origin passenger has said that he was stranded in Rome following his flight being diverted due to a security problem. The flight that was scheduled to fly from New York to New Delhi was abruptly diverted to Rome on Sunday because of an unidentified security threat issue in the words of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

A user named Lucky Chawla took to social media to post a message asking for assistance by American Airlines after his flight was diverted and his baggage disappeared.

"AA292 getting rerouted due to a bomb threat has left me stranded at a Rome hotel--my checked bags missing are at the airport. Crew & ground staff were amazing, but I'm extremely stressed--I urgently need my bags to rebook my trip. Please help," the man wrote in the message.

American Airlines replied to his blog post, and apologized, while also reassuring that they would assist. "We're sorry to hear you were unable to get your bag. We've reached out to our team in FCO to see if we can you additional information," the letter read.

The plane safely landed on Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome at 5:45 pm. The crew expressed concerns about security according to an AFP report claimed according to the FAA.

The US aviation agency did not reveal details of the concern however; the news agency flight rerouted using sources as well as The Flight Emergency Site reported that the flight was diverted due an alleged threat of a bomb.

Social media's viral videos captured the moment when an Italian Air Force jet escorted an Boeing 787-9 plane prior to landing. As reported by ABC News, a senior person with knowledge of the incident confirmed that an attack threat was sent via email, but it was confirmed to be not true.
